Carolyn Shadowen, Vcu School of Medicine, Class of 2021

Carrie was born and raised in Richmond, VA, and attended UC Berkeley for a degree in English. She is a fourth-year medical student at VCU, applying into Ob/Gyn. She is a strong believer in making the world safer for everyone, especially historically excluded groups like LGQBTIA+ women and women of color. Her clinical and research interests focus on the intersection of women's health and substance use disorders.
