Carol Olson, MA, LPC, ATR, CSAC



Carol is the Assistant Director of DV-IPV-SV-HT Initiatives and the Counseling Program. She is a licensed professional counselor and holds two master's degrees in counseling and art therapy. She has been working in mental health, trauma, and crisis response for over a decade within community mental health centers, rape crisis, domestic violence centers, and hospitals. She has focused on victims of violence, the impact of trauma, co-occurring mental health, and addiction in women. She has worked in leadership from local centers, regional and statewide agencies to national and international organizations developing intervention and prevention programs. Within VCU Injury and Violence Prevention Program, she manages both Project Empower and IVPP Counseling. She also creates radio programs on anti-violence education, mental health and trauma recovery, and women in leadership.
